Friday Distractions -- Thrifting!

Since I'm at the Cape, hopefully minimizing internet use and maximizing relaxation, I am skipping my usual Friday distractions. Instead here are the clothing and accessories I have thrifted since January. It is like a flashback to my long discarded stylediary, only most of these pictures include my head. ;) To see a larger version of any picture, just click it.

I am not keeping everything, as sometimes the thrill of the find overtook my best judgement and I don't want to end up on Hoarders, but thrifting these items and a few housewares has been fun. With my sporadic income, this has been my way to shop largely guilt-free.

Do you thrift? What has been your favorite find?Would you be seen with me in any of this?

(Just kidding on that last "suit." You should see the stuff I don't buy!)

  1. Sarah, I love (most) of them! And thanks for reminding me about StyleDiary. I just had a blast looking at all of my outfits from 5 years ago... and lamenting for how much skinnier I was!

  2. Those are all thrifted? Wow! You have some great finds there. LOVE the cape...yum, and though it seems a bit big (but nothing a great alteration couldn't fix), the Blue house dress is darling on you...that color is your color, you know?

  3. Oh, and p.s., totally proud. ;)

That collar-less J. Crew jacket is a classic. How much did that one cost???

  4. Erin - I remembered it a bit ago and enjoyed looking back. It was an interesting pursuit for sure.

Dina - Yes! I've been wearing the house dress all week with the straw hat over my swimsuit. The cape really just needs a belt and some button replacement. It fits quite well in the shoulders. The J. Crew jacket was half off so it cost roughly $3.50. It is Holiday 2008 or something.

  6. Thank you, Rebekka! It is so addictive but patience is definitely required. I have picked up a few house things but am trying not to clutter the parents house too much. No nesting for me just yet...

  7. Haha! This is the best blog entry I've seen in a long time! You should do more thrift blogging. (Not laughing at you, I'm just very entertained by your changing expression and poses for each outfit.)

  9. Yes! Many of the outfits were used for the Cape trip and even your wedding night. Careful, Rachel, or I'll take you up on that! I have a bookmarked map someone put together for thrifting in the DC area. ;)
